I am always happy to see a new book from The Top of the Wardrobe series. In the newest release, poor Molly Mouse is rocked out of her bed when a thunderstorm strikes. Her beautiful treehouse is split into two by lightning. Molly is disconsolate until her friend Cyril Squirrel gathers all her friends in the forest to help construct a new home. They provide their friend with a treehouse and even repair her broken furniture.Younger readers will enjoy the rhymes and softly colored illustrations as a bedtime story. Beginning readers will find just enough challenge in the text. It's fun to find the hidden mouse in each of the pages and complete the puzzles that the author includes at the end of the book. This makes the book even more attractive to reluctant readers.I highly recommend the book to preschoolers and elementary school children.
This is another sweet story by Melinda Kinsman. It is a story about helping others that every child can relate to. My grandsons are big fans of her stories and this one did not disappoint. Molly has trouble during a storm and the boys could relate to it after being in Hurricane Harvey in Texas and 2 winter storms here in Kansas.The boys love finding the hidden bunny on each page and the activities included in the back of the book too. .I personally love the lesson of the story that eventually everything will be ok after the damage to their home. Things will be different but that is ok, your friends will be there still to help you. It would be great for every home or classroom to have to help start discussions of helping others, friendship or even being scared.It is a great book for all ages!! Sweet story and wonderfully enchanting illustrations.
