I highly recommend Aileen Ellis's material. My aunt is a PMP and gave me the book on Earned Value questions because it was really helpful to her. This book helped me to really understand how to calculate network diagram questions while preparing for my PMP Certification. She does a wonderful job of breaking the material down! I highly recommend this book and the You Tube videos that go along with it. I set a goal to complete this book within 5 days, and completed it within 3. I reviewed it again before my exam to make sure understand how to calculate the forward and backward passes, total float and duration. I was able to answer the questions on the exam, including drawing the diagrams without anxiety. I purchased one other books in her miniseries as well. I highly recommend this book, the one on Contract Calculations and Earned Value questions. Of course there are others, but I needed help in these areas. Thank you Aileen Ellis and of course, my Aunt J., for the introducing my to Aileen.

Aileen had a different way of approaching calculating CPM (from what I'd previously studied) which made it a bit more simple. Very thorough explanations. Thank you Aileen! (I used this in conjunction with Rita's PMP Exam Prep Book.)

Just finished this workbook and I feel like the title absolutely delivers on it's promise to get every network diagram question right on the exam. I loved the format and the 50 targeted questions so much I'm buying the other two books. If you are struggling with CPM during your PMP studies then get this book.

While this material is really solid it is worth mentioning that it was written for the PMBOK 5th edition and has not been updated yet. Fortunately much of the Network Diagram questions have not really changed, although the exam seems to not be emphasizing them as much as they were in previous editions of the test.

Of the 50 questions on Network Diagrams, here are the questions that I will ensure I understand (as that they are beyond the typical questions on identifying the critical path, which this book thoroughly covers in all the other questions not identified below).7. Crashing10. Lead and lag13. Free float14. Start to start15. Finish to finish19. Standard deviation of the overall remaining path {I saw a similar question on Oliver Lehman's 75-question free exam}20. Project float21. Backward pass22. Activity on arrow diagram (AoA) - this topic will take me some work to understand23. Total float25. Finish to finish26. Variance27. Crashing29. Duration uncertainty {this topic is taking me work to understand}31. Project float33. Total float34. Total slack36. Activity on arrow diagram39. Standard deviation of the overall remaining path41. Free float43. Total slack44. Project float45. Activity on node (AoN) vs activity on arrow (AoA) {AoN is another name for a precedence diagram which is what we're used to seeing}Aileen's questions are straightforward. There doesn't seem to be more than one correct answer (which I understand, is unlike the actual PMP exam, but again, these are mainly calculations versus situational questions, so that could be why). The book is set-up so that the questions is on one page; you turn the page, and there is the answer (so they are right next to each other). The hardest concepts for me is figuring-out the standard deviation of the remaining path (and questions 19, 29 and 39 address that topic).

I bought three of these books - this one plus Contracts and EVM. The whole point of the books is to give you practice answering PMP-style exam questions, Unfortunately this one has the question and answer on opposing pages so it is really easy to see the answer before you actually read the question! The other books (Contracts and EVM) have the questions and answers in separate sections so you can practice for the exam without having to cover up pages to stop you seeing the answers. Other than that, the exam questions are good - just a shame such a basic mistake was made in laying out the book - I suggest this is fixed in the next edition.

Finally understood how to work these problems after getting this book. Very good!

Maddox, Marie. (1993) A lifetime in Gatlinburg: Martha Cole Whaley Remembers. History Press: Charleston, SC.This is a delightful book written by Marie Maddox from interviews with Martha Whaley. What a treasure. I fell on it at a yard sale. Since I’m writing a novel based in the hills “back in the day,” I thought it might give me some interesting information, and it didn’t disappoint. Martha was 103 at the writing and revealed how to stay healthy and live to old age. Nothing new but so inspirational: cut back on meat, eat veggies, exercise more, and be social. (My Aunt Nikolena suggested the same and lived to 104.). Ms. Maddox walked a mile every day—what an example. I was so motivated I started walking again, and I must buy more veggies, too, since I’ve been slacking there.Great stories throughout including her loving marriage. Those from or who visit the Smoky Mountain region will love it as will anyone interested in how people lived happy lives without the accouterments we have today. No electricity, no running water, making soap, fetching coal and wood, canning, etc. How did they do it!? And they were happy. Okay—confession time. I’m not giving up the Internet, my cell phone, my car, AC & heat, and a bunch of other things, so I’m not going back to 1920s in the hills. But the book helped me be more thankful for the many gifts I have. It might help you recognize your good gifts as well, and your children might like to learn how people used to live and see just how fortunate they are today.

My son wanted the entire Foxfire collection so I purchased all of the books from Amazon. He has read all of the books now and while some of the volumes he said did not have much practical instructional information he still enjoyed reading them immensely if just for the story aspect. These books are great for anyone who loves to read about old-fashioned ways of living before modern conveniences were commonplace or for someone who wants to learn how many things were done before things were so readily available. These books would be great for anyone who is of the "survivalist" mindset or anyone who just wants to learn to be more self sufficient.

I purchased this book to read up on Springhouses, however once started, I couldn't put this book down. I'm very pleased with Everything in this book, and intend to own all of them. The gardening chapter alone, is for me, a goldmine of information.The Old Fashioned, and SMART way to grow a garden is all there, of course, not everything applies today, but over 3/4 of it does, like what they did in the days before there were any fertilizers available, and why they always planted Irish potatoes first, and way before any other potato. There are way too many jewels of information in this book to post here, however I do believe that if you purchase this book, you will be very pleased, and like me, want to read more of them. Oh, and the Springhouse information turned out to be all the information I needed to do my own. Perfect!

I purchased the Foxfire volumes 1-12 in a single purchase. Highly recommend them if one is looking to learn skills from the "old school." Directions and pictures are very good. Our family is one interested in learning skills from past, such as soap making, cabin building, etc. and we found that these books are a very valuable source of information. There are areas of these books that are simply documentations of folklore and such, especially in the areas of herbal/natural medicine, that one will immediately recognize as ineffective, but it is still interesting to read this folklore anyway. Most of the Foxfire books have incredible, "lost" skills that we find very interesting. The books are good. Your money will be well spent.

Yet another awesome book! This series is probably my favorite thing ever. If you want to learn about the old ways or just a peek into true “country” life then I suggest you check these out.

I have been collecting the whole series of these books. There is so much great information in them, on such a wide variety of topics. Also contains some great recipes I plan on trying.

This is my third volume of the Foxfire books and I enjoy them very much. The stories they contain are timeless. This particular book contains a chapter on wood carving and fiddle making plus gardening the old fashion way. Logging, trading horsses, making tar for axle grease and much more. If you love woods lore and country living the old fashion way you will enjoy the Foxfire books. They have been around awhile but I'm glad to add them to my library.

This book had so many interesting facts for detoxing your body on sugar. I found it to be very helpful especially the start of my whole 30 detox of no sugars. There are so many facts in here that you are not aware of till you read this book!!

I don't know if the quality problem exists in only the e-version of the book, but it is so poorly written and amateurish, I lost all faith in the message. Poor grammar, bad sentence structure, no apparent editing, no citations or references, missing preface and index, and no bio of the author were so distracting, I could not believe anything I read. The assertions in the book may or may not be scientific fact. The low quality of the book makes those assertions doubtful. The "writer" should be embarrassed.

Really, this is a long paper. It took me 20 minutes to read. Nothing I didn't already know from reading online articles.

Nothing new. Poorly written. Sample menus were not legible on kindle. Read it in a half hour and deleted it.

I knew this was the beginning of a series, but I did not realize there would be a cliffhanger of an ending. The fact that I am so upset by this indicates how drawn into the story I was.The author has rendered St. John with as much loving detail as does on Nantucket in her other books. I’m convinced that I would love it there. The main characters are distinct individuals. The character of Maia is under-rendered and under-developed; I hope we see more in the next book.I just wish I’d been prepared for the cliffhanger.

This book seems to be merely an introduction to the next two.There were sections at the beginning of the book where the story flow was interrupted with plugs for other authors’ books. This was jarring and pulled me out of the story, because it seemed disjointed and not relevant to the story.After the rough beginning, I got into it, but after finally hooking me, the pacing slowed and the book lost momentum. I was frustrated that after slogging through parts, I didn’t even get the payoff of a satisfying ending. There was no resolution to numerous threads, and the author added a major plot development. Apparently, you have to read two more books to find out what happened.Although, I liked and recommended some of this author’s previous books, I won’t be reading any more. Books are too expensive for authors to expect readers to invest time and money in three of them to get one story. I’ve yet to read any story worth $75 and very few stories worth the time and energy to wade through a thousand pages to find out how it ends.

I love this author. Her writing style is so easy and enjoyable. Her character development is fun. This story is no different from her usual, except for the setting. I really enjoyed reading this!!So why the 3-star review?This is not a complete book. It is 1/3 of a book. I don’t think it is okay to charge full price for a book that has no ending. It’s not really even a cliffhanger. It’s like a book was chopped in to 3 books. Now, theoretically we will have to pay full price for each of the thirds. I just don’t think it is okay to do this to the reader.I do really want to know what happens next. But I think it is really greedy to expect people to pay for 3 books to get one story.

I have read (I think) all of her books. This one's ending made me angry. IT JUST STOPPED! It's like she thinks she's a big network hit drama, dropping a cliff hanger until next season. Boo Hiss. Last time I spend the money. First review I've ever written...that's how mad I am.

Do not buy this book! It ends half thru and no where does it say u have to wait til Feb for the rest of the story. I’m dying of pancreatic cancer so I’ll never know the ending. 😢😢I’ve loved all her other books but this one is a rip off! Wish I could get my money refunded!! 😡😡😡

This is not an ending, give me a break---I feel totally cheated!

Having read ALL of Elin Hilderbrand’s previous books (some twice), I found myself either flummoxed by the fire hose of tourist information or nodding out, because the plot was SO boring. There are actual errors an editor should have noticed - the wrong person attributed a piece of dialogue; a statement about Rosie’s having been dead for a certain number of years, when that should have referenced LeeAnn. It is as if this book was written on autopilot and I simply scanned the last ten pages - but did notice a hook. This is a shameless ploy to get readers to buy the next book in the series.

This book held my attention so much that I found myself reading it every chance I got - like at stoplights! Then I got to the end and discovered that there was no end. I wouldn't call it a cliff hanger because cliff hangers are usually resolved; this was just an unfinished book. Why wasn't it labeled part 1 or something so that those of us who like for our books to end could decide not to bother with this one. I have to say I felt pretty angry. I'm not sure I care enough any more to read the next book - or any more from this author.
