So in this book Alex mines for a little bit and then Steve gets depresed farming so they switch jobs again and Alex is right back where she was in the first book. She does more failong attempts to kill Steve and her evil laugh sounds like a donkey and acctually attracts them. Steve is being really proud and anoying and selfish and ungrateful and I can see why Alex wants to get rid of him. But could you make him nicer in the future cuz hes really being a jerk right now. So overall great book, funny, and Steve really needs to fall in a hole!

Why? Because I reviewed all of your books, told the haters to fall in a hole, convinced people to get these, AND gave u five stars all the time! I'm SydneyJPA, btw. Idk why this thing says Quantum J.

I read the first book and it was funny. I read this one and it was funnier. I think this is good! This means you are good at making Alex funny! Also, people always imagine Alex and Steve as best buds all the time, but this is exactly how always imagined them! You are just great. Everyone is great. Life is great! But life is boring. There is no adventure in life. Life would be fun if we lived in minecraft. Great book like I said!

The subtitle of this book is UNCOMMON ADVICE FOR THE INDEPENDENT WOMAN TRAVELER. And this book is exactly that. I don't know how author Thalia Zepatos does it, but she manages to tuck every conceivable thing you could possibly wish to know, if you are a woman planning to travel alone, into 250 pages. It covers the pros and cons of traveling alone versus traveling with a companion or taking a tour. It talks about creating your own journey, how to find and meet friends in different cultures and what to expect from those cultures. It talks about sexual harassment and how to deal with it. It covers packing and how to make the transition back home. For the first time in my life, I am leaving the safety net of traveling with my husband, and am setting off by myself into a part of the world known for its machismo and consequent harassment of women travelers. I am so glad I found this book! Five stars.

It is full of interesting facts and suggestions, but it appears to be for the very brave and intrepid. I learned a lot from this book, but I am not going to go to India without any reservations nor am I going to stay in any sort of hostel. I'm not a snob, but I do have to travel with a CPAP machine and I don't know if hostels have plugs for CPAP's.In other words, this book would have been great for my 20's, but I don't think I can travel the way she does in my 50's. It is a different (and cheap) way of traveling but not for me.Could be good for you.

I liked this book. I found it helpful. But it didn't seem to make traveling solo any easier, especially for women. It just wasn't reassuring enough. I loved reading about the author jumping around from country to country with utter sang froid, but I do think she had a lot more contacts to smooth the way than the average person.

Most of this fat, readable book consists of traveling tips for women or what I'd call untraditional travelers - men or women who want not just to travel, but to get a good taste of other cultures.Scattered through the first half of the book are engaging tales, some by the author, some by others, of experiences most of us will never have, from travelers staying in the homes of natives (European or third world country families).The helpful hints are several steps above others I've read. Planning and packing, bartering (excellent tips on this - you can use them here!), money exchange, culture shock, knowing the language and alternatives, luggage options (complete with instructions on how to make your own money belt), food, alternate housing, and more.Although the only trips I'm planning for the next year are of the more mundane variety - to European cities with family members - as I read stories about women traveling alone or with friends in India, Thailand and other exotic places for 3 months and longer, I found myself thinking maybe I could do this - if only I could just drop responsibilities and go. (She offers a chapter with trip planning, several months out, outlining what responsibilities need to be dropped or covered, and how to do it!)Since I can't, reading this book gave me the feeling that I've at least shared the experience, while offering lots of information about how to "go" if ever I'm able.The resource section at the very end has a wealth of information. A good read for you, a gift for a wanna be traveler, a nice read for wistful couch potatoes like me.

I bought this book a couple of years before I took my first major solo trip, to England for 3 1/2 weeks in 1997. This book not only helped me to realize that I was wasting my life wishing I could go travel instead of traveling but that I could certainly do it alone. Thalia Zapatos gives good, practical advice about traveling alone (or with a companion-including a great quiz for helping figure out yours and your companion's traveling styles) with sensible attention to safety issues without being alarmist.What puts this book above and beyond your basic to do list type books is the inclusion of great anecdotes and short essays by women(including the author) recalling trips they've taken. These demonstrate the usefulness of the author's advice and humanize it as well.

Before reading The Bait of Satan, I was sure when living a life in service to God, you would often be tested by the words and actions of those who had not yet found Christ. I believed as stated in Matthew 5: 10, "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven". I believed the offense I felt was evidence of my persecution, that as stated in 1 Peter, 3:14, I am blessed if I suffer for the sake of righteousness. I believed suffering was a natural byproduct of offense. I would forgive the offender for offending me. Like Christ forgave. And then I read this book. It revealed to me how offense separated me from the will of God and I should not be offended. I became defensive when reading it. I thought what I was reading was incongruous with what I (emphasis on me) believed was true about "A Christian Life". But the Word of God is truth, and in it is found wisdom and peace. The Bait of Satan challenges the reader to consider a life lived free of offense is a life that opens you to all God has intended. Best of all it shows you how to get there. I am by no means "there yet". I realized while reading this book I have to unlearn, by the grace of God, over a half century of self centered belief. But my God is merciful and patient. He will see me through. Be mindful, this is not an easy read. It will test you. Push you. Knock you around a bit. But it will also show you how to draw closer to God's perfect will in your life. I'm starting to recognize the trap now, and I'm not falling for the bait.

I cannot think of a single soul that would not be blessed by this book. I want to buy it for so many people, but instead I pray for God to orchestrate that purchase according to when those are ready.This book has led me to true freedom in Christ Jesus. I've been reconciled with so many and cancelled so many debts of those in the past...some of which really had no chance without forgiveness. I was blind to the enemy's tactics and how he was stealing from me by getting me to bite the bait of offense. This book right here is a key for warfare. My Redeemer lives and I'm so happy to be off the hook! You will certainly be blessed if you open your heart and mind to it. Enjoy.

This book is so good. I originally watched a DVD series offered through my church on the Bate of Satan. It was so good that I decided to buy the book after seeing my family struggle with offenses. This book is exactly what I needed because in my family conflicts I thought I was handling the conflict well, but I was actually getting offended and then doing a terrible job at helping my family. This book is a must read for all Christians. If you want to be free you have to be free from offenses. Jesus says that offenses will come and we are to be encouraged because He has overcome the world. John Bevere relates his own personal experience with offenses and how it impacted his life and ministry for a time. He learned from the Lord how to get free. If you are struggling with a close relationship with Jesus and Abba Father, get this book. It will save you because there is great truth in the pages. This book helped me forgive my ex-husband when we divorced. If it did not forgive him then I would have remained in bondage and bound to repeat the same sins and I was in the lives of my children. I hope this help you and feel encouraged there is a way out of offenses. This book will set you free.

Having read the original Bait of Satan about 15 years ago I was intrigued that there was a 20th anniversary edition. I purchased it with the thought of using it as augmented reading for a course I anticipated teaching at our church training center.The premise of the whole book is an area that we may not think too much about--offense. Yet, if we fall for it, offense can be deadly to our lives as Christians.I was pleasantly surprised that with this edition Bevere added a 30 day study guide that will aid in applying what was read to your personal life. There are also added affirmations at the end of each chapter to declare and aid in the application of what was just read.The original book was approximately 177 pages; this one 271. Even if you already read the older edition I feel what the author included well worth the purchase.

This book has so many personal applications for self discovery. Although he speaks primarily about offenses within the Christian church it has WIDE application to interpersonal relationships and discovering things in oneself to change and improve in order to come closer to God. Wonderful stories and illustrations from the Bible and real life experiences. Sooooooo good!

Our Christian counselor, Dr. David Cox, recommended I read The Bait of Satan when I just couldn't get past my anger of my husband's affair.I was amazed after only reading half way through the book my friends were even commenting that they had seen a change in me and I "seem to be in a better place with your (my) anger".I had refused so long that I had any anger towards the issues because I had prayed "forgiveness prayer" toward my husband. But I didn't see that I was still holding on to the anger because I didn't know how to or even that I needed to.A huge peace has come into my life. My circumstances haven't changed but my outlook has greatly changed. I'm not picking up "stones" anymore and letting them weigh me down.
